#30 Lashing Out. Lashes.

Wednesday, April 17, 2013

We love getting all done up to go out-hair, nails, make-up, outfit choices…all fabulous! Those false eyelashes though, they can really amp up your look instantly!  Lashes add a little bit of drama and really open up the eyes.  Applying them though, can be a whole other story. The glue, the placement, the drying; it can be a little daunting to those of us who haven’t attempted it before.  Here is a great video demonstration from Pixiwoo that can help!

#28 Recognizing Your Positive Influence

Friday, April 12, 2013
Do you have someone that you look up to, go to for advice, or try to model your life after.  Have you told that person how much they mean to you?  You've probably thought about it buy might not have gotten around to sharing it with that person.  We suggest writing them a note, giving them a call, or send them an e-card; something to show them you appreciate them.  Most of the time, the people in our lives that radiate positive energy have no idea of the affect they have on others.  So take the time to let them know how they impact your life, we promise that they will never forget it!

Your Fabulous Challenge:  Give a call to someone that has positively influenced you just to say “hello”

#14 Fabulous Things We Love: Coconuts!

Sunday, September 18, 2011

Coconuts are just about as fabulous as fabulous comes these days. This gift from earth has been terribly propagandized in the past. It is time to come clean and embrace this miracle nut. Coconut oil contain 50% lauric acid, sounds scary I know, but when I tell you that the only other place in the world where you can find lauric acid is mothers' milk, I am sure you will be less scared and more eager to learn more - it is this ingredient that gives coconut oil its antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. It provides you with loads of energy, due to its MCTs ( medium chained fats) that are used instantly for energy and don't get stored away like other fats. Put it in your smoothie in the morning!

Also you will be excited to learn that this oil, is so stable and hardly ever turns rancid, a very scary true fact it, that most of the yellow colored oils in you kitchen ( especially the ones the in the see through containers) are already rancid when you buy them in the store, they are processed and heated before even entering your frying pan. Read this article for the whole truth, it will blow your mind, and make you want to stand on a soap box preaching to the world to use coconut oil!

#10 Fabulous Things We Love: Brewer’s Yeast And Oatmeal Scrub

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

I have to share this skincare secret with you. It doesn’t smell so pretty but I promise your skin will glow! One of my amazing teachers at FIDM gave us this recipe for a natural exfoliator:

1/4 cup brewer’s yeast

1/4 cup chopped oatmeal

purified water

In a small bowl, mix dry ingredients and put into a jar to save excess for future use. In another small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of the scrub with enough water to form a spreadable paste. Allow mixture to thicken for 1 minute.

Using your fingertips, massage onto face and throat and allow to dry for 15 minutes. It’s important to not wash it off immediately.

Trust me on this one. I’ve become quite the beauty product junkie and have been searching for a perfect exfoliator. Before I tried this recipe I was doing a comparison between Fresh’s Soy Face Exfoliant, Kate Somerville’s Exfolikate and NaturaBisse’s C+C Vitamin Scrub. At the time I was in love with Kate’s Exfolikate. After using it, my skin was so soft, smooth and had the sexiest glow to it. However, the oatmeal from the recipe is so gentle that you won’t be able to go back to a product that has granules in it. I was stunned to realize how coarse and irritating these products truly are.

The other great thing about this homemade recipe is that it immediately kills any pimples. If I ever have a little breakout I just whip up a little batch, scrub and let it sit for 15 minutes. Every single time I’ve done it my breakouts are gone by the next morning. I promise.
